Jets Dominate Bucs; Improve to 7 and 6
Kellen Clemens made his first start of the year due to Mark Sanchez’s knee injury. Kellen was asked one thing, avoid turnovers. That is the only thing he did well. The NY Jets controlled the game by dominating on the ground. As a team they had 42 rushes for 175 yards. Thomas Jones ran for 99 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kellen Clemens was erratic and missed several open receivers but he did not turn the ball over. His numbers (12/23 – 111 yards, 65.6 passer rating) were not pretty. He didn’t help his case to be the long term backup QB here. By avoiding the turnovers, he was able to help the Jets win the game.
The real story of the day was the New York Jets defense. Simply put, they dominated the Bucs all game long. Bucs QB Josh Freeman was held to 93 yards passing and threw 3 interceptions. The Jets defense also had 3 sacks.
What else can you say? The Jets won the game 26 to 3 and led 19 to 0 at the half. Jay Feely continued his terrifc season by kicking 4 field goals (40, 24, 49, 49).
Next week the Jets face the Atlanta Falcons. Check our forums for the latest playoff rankings and Jets news. Tyson Rauch was at the game and will have some observations from Tampa when he returns.
