Darrin Walls will be inactive for the second week in a row. This means the Jets will likely be starting Marcus Williams, an undrafted free agent, and Phillip Adams a career backup who has the only interception for the Jets this season. Things could get ugly today for the Jets secondary with Ben Roethlisberger coming off back-to-back 6 touchdown performances.
The other inactives for today’s game are: Matt Simms, Walt Powell, TJ Barnes, IK Enemkpali, Wesley Johnson, and Dakota Dozier
Both Wesley Johnson and Dakota Dozier will likely remain inactive for the remainder of the season unless the Jets suffer another injury on the offensive line. It seems that John Idzik likes to redshirt his rookie linemen a year. Wesley Johnson was drafted in the 5th round by the Steelers this year, then picked up off waivers about a month ago. Dozier and Johnson are in the midst of an Idzik redshirt year.
Walt Powell had the kickoff return duty for a short period of time, but that changed with the arrival of Percy Harvin. The Jets will likely have a hard time finding a job for Powell with Harvin around unless the WR core sustains some injuries.
TJ Barnes is inactive again this week; strangely in the beginning of the season the Jets had Barnes active and Kenrick Ellis inactive for a few games.
IK Enemkpali is inactive this week. Enemkpali has only amassed 6 snaps on defense this year with the likes of Quinton Coples, Calvin Pace, Jason Babin, and Antwan Barnes ahead of him at OLB he likely won’t get many chances this year.
Matt Simms is inactive this week as well. With Geno Smith stinking up the place, and Mike Vick proving to be ineffective in week 8 against the Bills many fans were calling for Simms. Simms got one drive against the Chiefs last week and was mediocre at best. Geno Smith will be backing up Mike Vick this week.
