Season Over for McCown
As we mentioned yesterday, Josh McCown has a broken hand. It was assumed that it would be a season ending injury and the Jets confirmed that thought today. Todd Bowles said that McCown is looking at surgery.
Sometimes you get breaks where you don’t need surgery, but he needs surgery, so that was that.
We had one (a conversation) last night, but we had one more today. It wasn’t as emotional today, but we put a lot of things in perspective and me and Josh have a great relationship. I have respect for him as a player and a man. We’ll move on from there, but we’ll forever be connected.
The next man up for the Jets at QB is Bryce Petty. Bowles said the offense doesn’t have to change with Petty, stressing that he knows it well.
He’s been taking notes on the sidelines. He understands when it’s going to come, but it’s an opportunity for him. He’ll get the majority of the reps this week. He’ll be well prepared to play come the game on Sunday. He knows he has an opportunity to step up and make plays and we look forward to seeing him play.
The Jets are also considering adding a QB to the practice squad.
