Darron Lee Headed To K.C.
Darron Lee was drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft by then general manager Mike Maccagnan. Earlier this offseason the Jets opted to not pick up Lee’s 5th year tender. As soon as the Jets made CJ Mosley part of their plans, it seemed like Lee would be gone.
New interim GM Adam Gase (that sounds strange) wasted no time after gaining more control of the organization. According to Ian Rapoport, the Jets will be sending Lee to the Chiefs for a 6th round draft pick. Rapoport didn’t spell Darron Lee’s name correctly, that might be an indication of the underwhelming performance Jets fans witnessed on the field each week from Lee.
The #Chiefs agreed to trade terms with #Jets, sending a 6th round 2020 for Darren Lee

A 6th round pick from one of the best teams in the NFL is basically a 7th rounder. Gase sent a clear message about what he felt Darron Lee could contribute. Connor Hughes added this about the trade and Lee’s future.
Darron Lee was never in the #Jets plans for this season. Was just a matter of when he was dealt. When team showed up for offseason workouts — Lee was there — he wasn’t even on the depth chart.
Talented player who flashed last year. New scenery will do him well.
