Bengals vs. Jets NFL Week 8 Odds, Recent History and Trends

Mike White

It was painful to watch the Jets get annihilated by the Patriots last week and nobody felt it worse than Zach Wilson, who suffered a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the second quarter that saw him sidelined for the remainder of the contest. And because Wilson is reported to be on the shelf for the next two to four weeks, the Jets traded for Philadelphia backup, Joe Flacco, in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

Below we will take a snapshot view of this matchup and see how these teams compare and provide the latest point spread, money line, and total, aka over/under. Hot Take

You couldn’t pick two more polar opposite performances from last week, competing against each other this week. The Jets were pathetic while the Bengals were electric. It will be easy to see where the public money will go and the oddsmakers will inflate this line even more than it has to be to account for all those square bets that will continue to come in regardless of the line.

This is a situation that is usually a solid opportunity to fade the public and bet the home dog. Did you notice that New York’s offense moved better with unheralded Mike White than with Zach Wilson? White will start on  Sunday and he’s got an entire game under his belt so, ya know – experience.

There’s no doubt about it, the Bengals looked like a force of nature last week when they trounced the Ravens, 41-17, in hostile territory. Joe Burrow is the real deal and he’s got the weapons around him to make any defense in the league wince. However, Cincinnati could be looking ahead to a divisional showdown with Cleveland in Week 9 so this could be a trap game for the Cats and a hot spot to bet the Jets.
