1. Philadelphia Eagles (7-1)
Last Week: 2
The Eagles must be happy that they don’t face Washington again this season. Perhaps the Commanders see something nobody else has or perhaps the Eagles were thinking about Dallas this Sunday.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (6-2)
Last Week: 1
The Chiefs were a no show in snowy, cold Denver. Kansas City scored no touchdowns against the league’s worst defense. A showdown in Germany looms this week when KC plays Miami for the top spot in the AFC. KC should be more focused; they can’t be any less focused than they were in Denver.
3. Miami Dolphins (6-2)
Last Week: 3
Miami gets a shot this week to prove they are more than just a team that beats the bottom feeders. It’s time for the Dolphins to show that they belong in the conversation about true title contenders.
4. Baltimore Ravens (6-2)
Last Week 4
The Ravens are showing a level of consistency that they lacked in recent years. The next three weeks will be telling as they face the Seahawks, Browns, and Bengals all in Baltimore.
5. Dallas Cowboys (5-2)
Last Week: 6
Dak Prescott is 8-3 against the Eagles. If he doesn’t reach 9-3 this week, Dallas is probably on the wildcard path again.
6. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-2)
Last Week: 7
The Jags are surging. A road win in a tough building like Pittsburgh is a sign that a young team is making a step forward. Jacksonville has the schedule to make the AFC playoffs run through Florida.
7. Detroit Lions (6-2)
Last Week: 8
The Lions took care of Las Vegas the way they should. The Lions have a long stretch of games against subpar competition where they can put themselves in a very good position for January.
8. Cincinnati Bengals (4-3)
Last Week: Unranked
The Bengals are quietly making their way back to the race. The huge win in San Francisco sets them up to be back in the AFC mix with a home win this week against Buffalo.
9. San Francisco 49ers (5-3)
Last Week: 5
The Niners must do some soul searching this week. They are out of first place after rising to be everyone’s Super Bowl favorite. The fall could easily continue as they face the very capable Jaguars on the road this week.
10. New York Jets (4-3)
Last Week: 10
The Jets are masters of the ugly win. The offense needs to produce this week against one of the league’s worst defenses. If they can get some consistent play on offense, the defense is capable of carrying the team a long way.
