Jets Retain Guard Jake Hanson After Brief 2023 Audition

Joe Douglas

If there’s one silver lining to the way the Jets 2023 season played out with players such as Jake Hanson, Xavier Newman and Chris Glaser, it was their live audition.  Player who would have otherwise never seen the field got to line up on Sundays and be evaluated by the higher-ups at 1 Jets Drive.

It now appears the Jets liked what they saw from Hanson who, in limited action did have some quality moments.

We went back after the season to re-watch some of the o-linemen and came away impressed with how Hansen looked against the Browns and Texans.  It seems the Jets felt the same way.

While building a quality offensive line is clearly a priority after trading for Morgan Moses and signing John Simpson, the Jets know better than anybody how important depth along the line is.  The team went through fourteen different linemen and eleven O-line combinations in 2023.  Should anything similar occur in 2024, they’ll want to be prepared.
