With Jets training camp in full swing, fans are understandably excited to hear about how many of the Jets new acquisitions are performing. And why wouldn’t they be? The Jets have added some very high ceiling young players such as David Bailey, Omar Cooper Jr, Kenyon Sadiq, D’Angelo Ponds and Kingsley Enagbare to name a few.
But stealing the show early on to some degree are a pair of young veterans in edge rusher Will McDonald and left tackle Olu Fashanu. Both earned several mentions via social media from those in attendance at 1 Jets Drive who couldn’t help but notice the pair had put in some serious work this offseason.
In scrolling through some of the day one photos on the team’s offical site, it’s easy to see what folks are talking about. McDonald and Fashanu appear noticeably larger which should obviously be good news for both players. Especially for McDonald, who has struggled against the run in the past as a lanky defender who has a hard time working through blockers or setting the edge. In time we’ll likely find out just how much weight McDonald has added, but even a cursory glance would have you thinking it’s in the fifteen pound range.
Meanwhile, on the offensive side of the ball, Olu Fashanu looks to have put in quite a bit of work as his own as he enters year three and hoping to take the leap from mid-tier tackle one of the better blind side protectors in the league.
