6 Jets Standouts in NY Jets Camp

Kenyon Sadiq - Mory Bamba

It’s been a fun NY Jets camp so far for the New York Jets, as there has been a lot of excitement surrounding the team.  After coming off a 17-0 preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Friday, it’s telling that progress has been made in Florham Park in terms of getting the team ready for Week 1 in Tennessee.  There have been standout players who have gained attention over the course of training camp, whether unsung rookies trying to make the roster or veterans trying to show out in front of the coaching staff.

As Training Camp keeps rolling, players will continue to make a mark for themselves on this Jets team.  Let’s take a look at some players who have stood out during training camp so far and could make the Jets regular-season roster.

CB Mory Bamba

Mory Bamba made a name for himself in the Jets’ first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  In 46 defensive snaps, he showed elite ball production, recording 4 pass deflections within an eight-minute stretch and finished the game allowing just 3 receptions on 9 targets.  He also displayed physicality in tackling, posting 5 total tackles by utilizing his length and close speed.

Besides defense, he’s also contributed on special teams.  Bamba has been used as a gunner, where he’s earned the highest special teams grade (77.5) on the entire Jets roster, according to Pro Football Focus.  Throughout training camp, he quickly transitioned from an overlooked undrafted free agent into a legitimate roster contender.  If he keeps it up, he’ll find his way onto the Jets regular season roster.

EDGE David Bailey

The No. 2 overall draft pick has shown, time and again, this training camp/preseason why he was deserving of being selected No. 2 overall.

Throughout training camp, he’s showcased his blazing elite speed, relentless motor, and an expanded pass-rush arsenal.  Along with his speed, he’s shown high-level hand usage and a versatile repertoire of counter-moves.  Bailey has gone toe-to-toe with offensive tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou, beating them every single matchup with his fluid spin move, inside counter rip move, and a powerful bull-slip technique.  In the Jets’ second preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he blew right through Steelers starting tackle Broderick Jones to register his first sack against QB Will Howard.

A knock on him pre-draft was his ability to stop the run, but so far he’s impressed by blowing up multiple run plays against the Buccaneers in the joint practices and in the preseason game.  David Bailey has shown that his elite presence will impact the Jets’ defense sooner than we think.

WR Isaiah Williams

Known for his elite play on special teams, Isaiah Williams has put together a standout training camp for the New York Jets by showcasing that he can be a premier weapon for the offense.

Before training camp, Williams spent his offseason training with Olympic sprinters.  This all translated to the field, enhancing his deep-threat capabilities and making him noticeably more explosive off the line.  He created major camp buzz by burning the Jets starting defense for a 66- yard touchdown catch from QB Cade Klubnik during a team scrimmage.  Williams also made a toe-tapping touchdown catch where the ball tipped off Minkah Fitzpatrick and into the hands of Williams for a touchdown.  He’s routinely beaten defensive backs in practice, proving he is a reliable and fluid route-runner rather than just a straight-line speed threat.

If not for Omar Cooper Jr., Williams would slide right into the Jets WR3 position, but Williams will contribute to the Jets offense this season.

WR AD Mitchell

Did the Jets strike gold when adding AD Mitchell to the WR room? Sure, the Jets so far have won the Sauce Gardner trade by acquiring two first-round picks from the Colts, but adding a spectacular WR in AD Mitchell was another W in itself.  After joining the Jets, Mitchell put together impressive games to become the Jets’ WR2 behind Garrett Wilson.

Throughout Training camp, Mitchell has beaten defensive backs effortlessly during team drills.  He’s improved his route tree by showcasing exceptional crispness on both deep “go” balls and sudden double moves near the sidelines.  Mitchell and QB Geno Smith have shown chemistry as he’s served as the primary vertical deep-threat for the first-team offense, giving Geno Smith an ideal downfield target.

It’ll be fun to see how the Jets offense will look in the regular season with both AD Mitchell and Garrett Wilson in the same lineup for the Jets.

RT Armand Membou

Building on an encouraging 2025 rookie season, Membou has put together a dominant 2026 training camp by establishing himself as a future all-pro right tackle.  Membou has high expectations coming into the 2026 season as analysts from The Jet Press and USA Today’s Jets Wire note he is on a rocket-ship trajectory to become a top-10 NFL tackle.

Beat reporters have noted that Membou has been virtually flawless through team drills.  He’s won nearly every one of his reps during intense individual periods.  He routinely stonewalled premier edge rushers, including driving WillMcDonald IV into the dirt and holding off Kingsley Enagbare.

Membou’s high-profile battles with edge rusher David Bailey have drawn attention, as their battle has equally made each other better.  Bailey hasn’t made it easy for Membou, as he’s won some battles against him, but Membou has also won his share of battles against Bailey.  During marquee 1-on-1 drills, Bailey attempted to overpower Membou after a quick speed rush, only for Membou to completely neutralize him.

The Jets offensive line will be set for a while as tackle Armand Membou will solidify the right tackle spot for the next decade.

S Dane Belton

The starting job for the second safety spot opposite of Minkah Fitzpatrick has been one of the talks surrounding the New York Jets this training camp.  So far, Dane Belton has put together a standout training camp for the Jets, where he makes a strong case to play opposite of Fitzpatrick.  After signing a one-year, $4 million contract in free agency, Belton has showcased his elite tackling metrics, positional versatility, and knack for forcing turnovers throughout training camp.

Rather than limiting him to a traditional deep safety alignment, head coach Aaron Glenn has actively deployed Belton across multiple packages.  Throughout camp, Belton has taken heavy reps as an off-ball linebacker, in-the-box run stopper, and deep cover safety.  His Swiss Army knife deployment has maximized his athletic profile and prevented offenses from dictating matchups.

In the Jets’ second preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was placed in the starting lineup.  Belton’s hot camp has helped his case for being the starting safety opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick.  Andre Cisco and Malachi Moore are other competitors, but so far Belton has the edge.
