Kenyon Sadiq Suffers Setback Following Hernia Surgery

Kenyon Sadiq

Some bad news out of New York Jets camp as rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq was noticeably absent just a day after head coach Aaron Glenn said that his missed practice the previous day was planned.  It was part of a “maintenance program” after having hernia surgery according to Glenn.

Now after missing today’s session, Glenn revealed that Sadiq has had a setback in his recovery and will be out for an unspecified time frame.  All Glenn would say in terms of timetables is that they expect Sadiq to be ready for week 1 against the Titans on September 13th.

Some other notes from the day’s session:

-From what those on hand at 1 Jets Drive have been saying over the past couple of days, second-year right tackle Armand Membou might be the best player on the roster.

-Running back Breece Hall may have had the play of the day, breaking off a 50-yard touchdown run after rookie edge rusher David Bailey overplayed the run and Hall bounced outside and took off.

-Rookie QB Cade Klubnik did a good job of using his legs to get out of trouble and buy time which Nick Faria of SI.com says has been a strength of his up to this point.  Faria was also one of several reporters to mention the strong play of AZ Thomas early on in camp, which should be welcome news for Jets fans.

-Aaron Glenn’s praise of Mason Taylor has been pretty consistent as he said again yesterday that he’s expecting a “breakout year” from the tight end.  Things haven’t been great for Taylor early on in camp however, as he has reportedly struggled with several drops.

-Defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat has yet to join the team up to this point and he deals with a minor injury.  In his absence, several beat writers have spoken highly of rookie DT Darrell Jackson, who impressed again yesterday.

-Neither Geno Smith nor Cade Klubnik had the kind of day that would blow you away, but both had their moments where they made good throws down the field.  Definitely better than what both did in the rain on the previous day.
